Starting a blog can be overwhelming. My very first blog was through the free Blogger platform. It was easy to set up and simple to use. At the time, I was perfectly happy with it because I was unsure as to whether or not blogging was for me. Over time, I realized it lacked versatility and changing the layout to fit my specific needs was a pain in the ass. I really wanted to take my blog to the next level of professionalism. I wanted it to stand out, and to be taken seriously by readers and brands. As a result, my simple Blogger blog no longer fit my needs. What I noticed with my first blog was that it had great content, but readers were not sticking around. The average reader stayed for less than a minute. I was incredibly frustrated by the lack of engagement and ready to give up. It wasn’t until a good friend of mine suggested a complete blog overhaul that I realized how important branding was for my blogs survival. Because I didn’t have a clear vision or design, my blog came off as confusing, unfinished and amateur. Having a strong blog design enhances the presentation of your content. Your blog design should draw people in. It should reflect your brand, be easy to navigate and responsive.
I understand that not everyone has thousands of dollars to invest in a custom blog design, especially when you’re first starting out. Regardless, it is still possible to elevate your blogs design and enhance your brand by purchasing a WordPress Theme. WordPress Themes are incredible. You can take any theme and customise it to fit your brands specific needs. What is so wonderful about them is that they’re generally affordable, and your blog will benefit from the versatility that comes with using the WordPress platform. If you’re worried about it being difficult or confusing, don’t. Many of the designers I have shared below offer theme installation for a small additional fee. Today, I am focusing on responsive feminine WordPress themes. Because, why not start off with the pretty ones ;). If you’re unsure about how to start a self-hosted WordPress blog, start here.
